Meeting between Nghe An and Japan: Corporation and Development

On the morning of April 26, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee cooperated with the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam to hold the Meeting between Nghe An and Japan: Cooperation and development.

Attending the conference were: Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue – member of Politburo and Deputy Prime Minister; To Huy Rua - Former Member of the Politburo, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association; Mr. Umeda Kunio - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Vietnam; representative of Japanese agency in Vietnam; Japanese provinces are sworn with Nghe An; international organizations; corporations, companies, business associations; Japanese investors in the country and from Japan.

On Nghe An province, there are comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Parliament Delegation; Nguyen Xuan Son - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of relevant departments, agencies and units.

Mr. Thai Thanh Quy - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, speaking at the opening of the conference, stressed: Vietnam and Japan relations in recent years have developed rapidly and are currently at the best stage ever. Nghe An province has always considered Japan as one of the most important partners for cooperation and development, and also determined that Japan will be a key partner to cooperate in the province's international integration strategy vision 2030 - 2035.

Following the friendly tradition that Mr. Phan Boi Chau and Dr. Asaba Sakitaro have built, in recent years, Nghe An province has promoted comprehensive cooperation activities, long-term stability with Japanese partners and has Achieving important results in many fields. The province has been building a cooperative relationship with Gifu Prefecture, Shizuoka Prefecture, Kochi Prefecture; Vinh city has established a cooperative relationship with Kasumigaura city and Irabaki Prefecture, etc

Nghe An, over the past decades, has always been one of the partners with lots of preferential loans from Japan. There have been 44 projects up to now, with a total funding of VND 5,070.39 billion funded by Japan in Nghe An. The province is implementing 05 projects with a total funding of VND 4,819 billion. Export turnover in 2018 reached 22.13 million USD, including garments, all kinds of stone, handicrafts, wood, wooden products, seafood, fruits and fruit juice, salt, resin . Import turnover, in 2018, reached 13.1 million USD, including machinery, equipment, phones and phone components, production materials and salt. Besides, Nghe An is one of the localities with a large number of citizens going to labor export in Japan with about 3,000-4,000 employees / year.

The chairman of the provincial People's Committee stressed, through this conference, Nghe An expects to introduce the potential and strength of the province to Japanese partners to promote cooperation opportunities and attract investment into the province. He also wishes to listen to ideas and experience sharing from the Embassy of Japan, Japanese Economic - Cultural Organizations, businesses, associations and localities to attend the conference. At the same time, he also pointed out some orientations to attract investment in the province in the coming time.

Representatives of businesses, delegates, at the Conference, focused on discussing and introducing projects in the province; development policies, investment attaction of the province, cooperation on human resources, high-tech agriculture, supporting industries, tourism, etc

Representatives of VSIP, WHA, Hoang Thinh Dat introduced industrial construction zones in the province; priority fields to attract investment in industrial zones.

Based on the potential and strengths of the province, there will be many Japanese investors coming to invest in Nghe An - "Nghe An will have a wave of investment from Japan".

Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue - Deputy Prime Minister, concluding at the conference emphasized: Nghe An is the only province with Resolution 26-NQ/TW dated July 30, 2013 on the direction and task of developing Nghe An province by 2020. The Resolution has determined the strategic position of Nghe An in terms of economy, culture, society, security and defense; Especially, Vinh city is the economic-cultural center of the North Central region.

In the coming time, the Deputy Prime Minister proposed the leaders of Nghe An province to act strongly and drastically to direct the provincial levels and branches to develop specific policies and solutions to boost strongly Nghe An - Japan relationship from foreign affairs to attract investment, trade, tourism, etc. In particular, it is necessary to continue to strongly improve the investment and business environment in a favorable way, administrative reforms at all levels, with mechanisms to attract resources, implement economic restructuring and transfer change the growth model in depth to create the best conditions for foreign businesses, including Japanese enterprises to invest and do business in Nghe An.At the same time, it is necessary to be more active, innovative and creative to introduce and promote the potential of cooperation and business in our localities; learn to better meet the requirements and desires of Japanese partners and investors; promote good internal resources, maximize the advantages and potentials of the locality, promote links between the two sides through strengthening cooperation on ODA, trade and investment.

Noting and thanking the sentiments of Deputy Prime Minister - Vuong Dinh Hue and delegates attending the meeting, on behalf of provincial leaders, Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh - Provincial Party Committee Secretary affirmed: Nghe An will try its best in improving investment environment, administrative reform, preparing the best resources to attract foreign investors. At the same time, Nghe An province wishes to continue to receive the support, concern and support of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam as well as the cooperation and investment of Japanese organizations and enterprises.
